Although it was nice to see a documentary on Marx, it's a shame Ms Flanders didn't seem aware that Marx's theory of crises isn't the same as his theory of how profits are made. Competition between capitalists causes crises, not competition between capitalists and workers. Hadley's right about commodity fetishism, though - commodities have the characteristics of humans, and humans stop having personalities altogether. Who needs a character if you've got a facebook page, an Iphone and a credit card with a picture of an animal?
