but they are very great antidepressants 
when you come into a gloomy house and 
this fluorescent thing totally does its nut with 
excitement to see you more than any other creature ... 

and starts imitating the hoover and stuff ... 

and they are quite happy to wank themselves 
off in front of your polite dinner guests ... 

working themselves up into a frenzy 
of sprayed and vibrating feathers 
on their perch ... no longer distinguishable 
as any kind of bird ...
