of course my aunt is really talking about her own situation ...
she believes that her husband ought to stay with her
because he is her husband.
The problem is much more profound than that
when someone becomes disillusioned by their marriage
and a temptation comes along
its just too much to resist.
You just don't want to work on the marriage any more ...
