i think he tries to reduce their importance for him 

but he has medication for that 

some people would say something like ' thankyou for sharing ' 

because the voice is something that wants to be heard 

. when you thank it for sharing you are saying 

that you hear they want to be heard 

but that you are a separate person with your own thoughts
