When birds fly into windows, they are temporarily incapacitated due to swelling of the brain. After several hours, the bird will usually recover on its own and does not need to be transported to a wildlife rehabilitator. If there is a concern about predators, the bird can be scooped up and placed in a quiet location in an enclosed box. As the swelling subsides and the bird becomes more active, it could be released

Place the box in a warm, quiet, darkened room or area nestled in a warm towel If you suspect a head injury, support the head as you move the bird to a container

I know I have had many birds fly into my windows and break a wing or get some kind of injury, and I have also had some birds hit my windshield while driving down the road
