Ideas for 9-12 November
evening peeps - - - cooo the fumes in here - - - cough cough - - - anyway I was going to say that apparently Al-Anon are worried that if they stop affiliating with social services that they could lose charity funding - - - actually the whole point of Al-Anon is that it doesnt worry about that , you know if we can't afford the general service office we can do it from a smaller premises etc. the idea is that we are independent of affiliations - - -
although that is a guideline not a rule - - - so they voted to accept donations from 'appropriate sources' - - - well an appropriate source wouldn't expect any kind of conditionality is the point - - - its not a rule but you could argue that its not really an Al-Anon meeting if affiliations are starting to infiltrate - - - the non professional atmosphere is what makes it a source of action rather than an old peoples day centre
rather than now its like being smoothed over with a load of social workers presiding over the meetings that have actually been paid to go there and Im having to flee to other groups and stuff looking for what Im supposed to get in my home group - - - I know there are some Al-Anon peeps here so hopefully they can pass this on ta - - -
- - - you know when I first went there is all these little dramas around people getting it all wrong making mistakes wobbling on their feet etc, and little barnies and stuff all done without any kind of leadership or expert facilitation - - - which is what made it truly facilitating and a source of raw life - - -
