Why is this nonsense always spouted by people who have no knowledge whatever of mental illness ? I have lived with a paranoid schizophrenic for 30 years and it has abolutely nothing to do with demons and spirits however much the schizophrenic may insist so.
Most schizophrenics suffer from a condition called anosognosia, which is actually a physical alteration of the brain such that the person is incapable of grasping that there is actually anything wrong with them. That is in fact the reason why many schizophrenics are hospitalised......they simply wont take their meds otherwise, as they don't see any need to.
The worst thing you can do with a schizophrenic is go along with the 'its all demons and spirits' nonsense.....because in doing so you merely serve to confirm in the schizophrenic's mind that there is nothing wrong with them and they are being externally 'attacked'.
