what I liked about Ghandi from what I know
some of which is from the film and some from Indian mythology

he was the founder of ' passive resistance '
whereby you win by surrendering
like when the British are about to shoot a group of civilians
he turns to the civilians and said we must not fight back
and in this way he won the sympathy of the world
and the independence of India

also known as ahimsa or turning the other cheek 
used in martial arts as a strategy 

nobody does that 100 % of the time even Ghandi
