The violence doesn't necesarily come from the reduction in imports or even an increase in price though an increase in price makes any cost benefit analysis when utilising violence more accpetable. However it is a question of control of supply in a marketplace where monopolies are enabled and where violence is an inherent nature of the illegality. In that the state enforces law by monopolising violence and thus breaching the law is a challenge to this monopoly enabiling a free for all of violence. The rise in violence suggests the market is destabalised (any number of causes that might see brands compete) or the capacity to violence has increased (new wave of guns on the market).
