I agree with the author that the Western MSM presents a self-serving, self-glorifying story about the missile crisis, JFK's *finest hour*. Reality was something different, as we now know from Russian archives. The Soviet deployment was actually pretty large scale and successfully went unnoticed for a long time. It was definitely not a Soviet defeat, as the Russians ended up in a better position after the crisis than they were before: Jupiter missiles removed from Turkey and, most importantly, no more US invasions against Castro.
