Except that children lie, allot. I know I did as a child. Children are not necessarily angelic, they are often deviant and manipulative.
If we start with the basic assumption that a child is always telling the truth then it whats to stop a child from making a malicious claim against a teacher they didn't like and ruining their career? Possibly even their whole lives. It's not as if this isn't unheard of.
Listening to possible victims is important, but we also need to protect people from becoming the victims of spiteful accusations.
