would it not be better to take the money from child benefit for those over a certain amount, and invest it in after school clubs, breakfast clubs, and free school meals for all..?
So that every school had these provisions.
That way, working parents would not have the cost of childcare, as they tried to make ends meet...the poorest and neglected kids would get breakfast and one decent meal a day, as well as somehwhere to stay after school, if they needed.
It would mean getting a job as a single mum ( or dad) might actually be an option.
It could be done in conjuction with sports clubs, extra help with homework, or arts and crafts etc, depending on the child.
And it would be used by those who needed it
